November-December 2017

silver spatulaCongratulations to Phil Mikulsky and Ann Argall for being crowned Casserole King and Queen of First Presbyterian Church.  Share the Silver Spatula with pride!

October was the kickoff to Sunday School and Confirmation and what a great start it was. I understand that the twelve youth involved in Confirmation are enjoying the lessons and that Sunday School is going very well. Bobbi Holl and Loni McCormick are starting plans for a Confirmation Mission Trip to Montana next Summer. Brenda Hubbard will be the Sunday School teacher in November, and Nancy Siewert will be teaching in December.

Winnebago Presbytery-optSix youth, with Bobbi Holl, George Hubbard, and myself attended the Winnebago Fall Camp held at the Pilgrim Center on the weekend of October 27-29th.

20161127_112432_resized-optMark your calendars to attend the Annual Advent Workshop scheduled for November 26th after worship. The CE Committee is working on finalizing plans, but there will again be music, crafts, cookie decorating, a sandwich bar for lunch and hopefully wreath making. What a great way to start the Advent Season--and the Packers don’t play until that evening.

The Unga-Bunga Tribe is reminded that their Wrappin-Lock-In is scheduled for December 15th or 16th, which means that the congregation will need to have their gifts for the three Tank School families to the church by then.

Mary Steeno has chosen this year’s Christmas Pageant which I understand will be held during regular worship on December 24th. Parents are to watch for practice times if they want their children involved.

Ken Sann 5-16-17 cropped-optIt is with much gratitude to share that this will be my last article, as after much thought, prayer and discernment, I have decided to step down from my position as Interim Christian Education Director as of October 31st. I have enjoyed working with the staff and CE Committee in this role for the past three years and have always considered this position more of a calling than a job. I have been blessed with the amount of support that I have received as I continue to pursue my call to ministry. I will still be around this church and have no plans on leaving anytime soon, as I continue to listen to what God is calling me to do next. Please continue to pray for the work of the Christian Education Committee.
