First Presbyterian Church, Green Bay was officially organized on May 2, 1876 with fifteen charter members. By Christmas Eve that same year, the first building had been completed. In 1892, the congregation moved to its present location on the corner of Ashland and Howard. The original building at that site proved to be adequate until 1925 when it was replaced by the present structure.
The education wing was added in 1953 to support the congregation's expanding Christian Education program. Building updating for handicap accessibility and renovations to meet the needs of the congregation and staff took place in 1995. Additional parking spaces were added in August 2000.
First Presbyterian is the only Presbyterian Church on Green Bay's west side. Located near the central downtown area, First Presbyterian is easy to find and accessible from the surrounding communities. The warm, caring, friendly congregation comes from all around the county and from all walks of life.
For over 125 years, First Church (First Presbyterian Church) has been blessed with a ministry of vitality, faithfulness and love of God. Each one of us plays an essential part in the ongoing story of faith, hope and love at First Church.
