July 20, 2016 - Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America received a generous donation of approximately $86,000 from the First Presbyterian Church of Green Bay as completion of a Gillespie Family bequest.
The Gillespie family were long-time members of our Church and supporters of Scouting and wanted to leave a legacy that would help build positive character in young men. We determined that the Scoutreach program through the Bay-Lakes Council would best fulfill their wishes, since Scoutreach serves youth in First Presbyterian’s neighborhood, as well as throughout Green Bay
DSC01451-optScoutreach gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural Scouting programs. It is BSA’s commitment to make sure all young people have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnicity.

The Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America, Chief Executive Officer, Jason Wolf stated “This very generous gift to Scouting will be a great resource in providing the Scouting program to an increased number of youth.  We are grateful to have generous donors like the Gillespie Family and First Presbyterian Church of Green Bay that recognize the importance and life-long effect of the Scouting program.”

Pastor Randy noted, “At First Presbyterian Church, we put a priority on reaching youth with meaningful programs. This gift to the Boy Scouts is a perfect example of the Presbyterian commitment to the nurture and development of young people.”
